I love to go ole' school with my Thank You Notes! There is no sweeter way to show someone you care, than to send a hand written note card in the snail mail. ~ Ren Ahuja

Hi! I’m Jennifer Myka!

I create fiber-integrated oil paintings and related mixed media works that combine traditional painting with dimensional fibers that move beyond the surface of the work.

Much of my material comes from over 12 years of raising animals and collecting fiber, including Suri alpaca, Teeswater wool, and mohair from Angora goats, often with specific animal, farm, and shearing-year provenance. This creates a direct connection between the living source of the material and the finished piece.

My work brings together painting, fiber, and lived experience, often incorporating animals and botanical forms as recurring motifs. The fibers are not simply added. Instead, they become part of the structure of the piece, shifting it between two-dimensional image and sculptural presence.

In my work, I hope you will find encouragement, a little whimsy, something pretty or at least something to make you think.

I do believe we need to be thankful and focus on the positive! I am passionate about art and believe that we are all creative in our own way. I love sharing the joy of art with others!

I am drawn to the way memory is embedded in materials. Many of these fibers come from animals I have raised or known, and their presence introduces a layered sense of time, relationship, and continuity.

As I work, my own memories and experiences become part of that layering, building meaning within both the painted and fiber elements. The result is work that invites ongoing discovery and connection over time. This approach, which I describe as “fiber-integrated oil painting,” remains an emerging and relatively uncommon approach, and I am actively developing it as a distinct body of work. I love being an artist because it allows me to transform years of connection with animals, materials, and the natural world into something that holds both visual impact and deeper meaning. My work reflects a sense of stewardship. It honors the individuality of the animals, the materials they produced, and the stories embedded within them.

IMAGINE... WHAT WOULD IT FEEL LIKE TO HAVE ART IN YOUR HOME THAT REFLECTS THE TRUE YOU.
