The Story Behind the Artwork

Carried in Color began as an exploration of how memories can return to us—not as fixed images, but as echoes accompanied by color, movement, and feeling.

I wanted the bouquet to feel as though it were moving with the color around it rather than sitting still against a background. Some of the dimensional fiber flowers reappear as painted echoes, allowing forms to emerge, repeat, and soften across the surface much like fragments of a memory.

The fiber flowers push that experience beyond the painted plane. They create their own shadows, respond to changing light, and shift in relationship to the painting as you move around it.

The result is an artwork that can't be experienced fully from a single viewpoint.

Carried in Color is about the way something remembered can remain alive—not frozen in the past, but carried forward through color, movement, and the traces it leaves behind.
